Business Reporting

Using Business Intelligence to find inefficiencies in your business.

Introducing Business Intelligence to your smaller company through insightful information to help you manage and grow your business more efficiently.

What is Business Intelligence (BI)?

Business intelligence (BI) is a technology-driven process for analyzing data and delivering actionable information that empowers executives, managers and workers to make informed business decisions.

How BI can help your company

What is BIaaS?

A business intelligence as a service (or BI-as-a-Service) solution delivers all three areas: extracting data from your core systems, organising it into a high-performance data warehouse, and giving business users access to this warehouse through a natty front-end.

Why WINC is different

Traditional Business Intelligence consulting companies have a business model where they build a complex model and hand it over to the client, and the only way to maintain it is to agree on a retainer. My model is basic. I build it, then publish and maintain it daily with a monthly fee.

1.

Route Profitability Inter-Provincial Passenger Transportation

Background

Due to Covid-19 restrictions enforced by the government the transportation industry was on its knees, especially inter-provincial transport.

The Challenge

When inter-provincial travel was opened again after hard lockdown management realized that efficiency need to increase by a big factor as coaches may only be loaded at 70% capacity and cashflow is already under strain.

Solution

Reporting was always done on the 20th of the new month and was only done on a global level. To make better decisions on routes reporting will have to be closer to the travel date and must be on a route level. To solve this business intelligence needed to be employed, as the company was already on the Office365 platform Microsoft Power Bi was easy to employ. The result was a model that could visually represent profitability data and be updated every morning and distributed to all relevant stakeholders.

2.

Transportation Company Branches Out

Background

A settled company wants to branch out into the trucking industry. A fleet of 10 trucks and tautliner trailers are purchased and drivers are recruited.

The Challenge

From the get-go there are issues. The trucks are busy most of the time, but the company is constantly running at a loss and cashflow is always a problem.

Solution

The company firstly needs visibility of operations and finance. And the information need to be up to date for better business decisions. This is achieved with the introduction of a logistics operational system and a data warehouse to combine the operational and financial data. Microsoft Power BI is used for visualizing the data as the company is already on the Office365 platform. The result is immediate visibility of low profit routes and inefficient drivers that can be rectified in an instance due to the up to date information.
